Caving

Caving continues to be a popular activity for Scouts and Explorers. Around 500 young people plus leaders go underground each year. There are currently 12 cave leader permit holders in Avon, who can take Scouts caving on the Mendips and equipment is available (helmets and lights) for those taking part. The maximum party size is eight (including the leader).

Bigger trips can be arranged when sufficient leader permit holders are available. For younger members, the commercial caves in Cheddar and Wookey offer a worthwhile experience of the underground.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
