Water Activities
Canoeing
The Avon Scout & Guide Canoe club welcomes scouts, guides and adults of all ages. Experienced paddlers and absolute beginners will find this a very friendly group.
Rowing and pulling
Based in the historic Bristol Floating harbour our Rowing & Pulling Club gives the opportunity for Scouts and Guides aged 10 years and above to learn to handle a boat under oars with skill and confidence – and to have fun in doing so. Rowing and Pulling information & activities.
Sailing
Our sailing section, based in Bristol Harbour is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association as a training establishment. We organise both introductory sessions and training courses covering a wide range of abilities and are able to issue nationally recognised qualifications.
Traditional Rafting
To undertake Traditional Rafting on B1 waters with your troop or unit you need to have an Activity Permit.
Unlike Sailing, Pulling or Canoeing there is no National body for this activity so we have developed a training programme and check list to comply with the requirements of POR. We have a team of County Assessors who are all keen water sports enthusiasts and know the benefits of running water activities for scouts. We run a training day (usually in April) to train scouters to meet the requirements of POR and follow this up with an assessed event.
More information can be found on the Traditional Rafting website
