Duke of Edinburgh Award

A Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme is a real adventure from beginning to end.  It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from.  You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by. Scouting is a major provider of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.  Getting involved here in Avon couldn’t be easier. You just need to be part of the Explorer Scout or Scout Network Section and enrol to take part.

Bronze Silver & Gold Award Levels

If you take up the challenge, you’ll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only). Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way, you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

It is easy to get involved in a DofE programme. You will need to complete an Avon DofE Enrolment Form and pay a fee. Once you’ve done this you will receive your welcome pack and a set of login details for eDofE.

Now’s the fun bit. Log in to eDofE and plan your programme of activities. Once your leader has approved them you can get going, collecting evidence as you go.

At the end of the programme, your leader will approve your evidence and then send your award for official approval. Once this stage is complete you’ll get a message through eDofE telling you that you have completed the requirements for the award and that you can start producing your achievement pack.

Finally, there will be a presentation, where you will receive your certificate and DofE badge as well as a badge to wear on your uniform. If you have completed your Gold Award then you will be invited to attend a Gold Award presentation at a Royal Palace in order to collect your certificate.
