 Remembering Steve Spokes

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Steve Spokes passed away this week

after an illness that had affected him for several months.

Steve dedicated over 54 years to Scouting, making him one of our most well-known and respected District Scouters. Alongside Pat, our District President, Steve contributed enormously to Cotswold Edge, most recently playing a key role in the rebuilding of Mafeking Hall and Campsite. He was often seen supporting Dean Ashpole-Chapman on site and maintained close ties with the Zeus Explorer Unit, joining them for their Easter Brownsea Camp this year—a milestone that meant a great deal to him and the young people involved.

Steve’s commitment, energy, and friendship touched so many lives. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Pat and thank her for her continued support of our District.

Steve was also a keen supporter of Woodhouse Park Activity Centre having been joint warden for many years and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
