Simon Walker Awarded the O’Neil Trophy for Outstanding Service 🏆

We are delighted to share that Simon Walker has been awarded the O’Neil Trophy at the County AGM, recognising his exceptional dedication and leadership over the past year.

Simon has been a Group Lead Volunteer for over a decade, and under his proactive, no-nonsense leadership, the group has continued to thrive. In the last 12 months alone, the group has purchased its own headquarters, launched a new Beaver colony, and welcomed new leaders—all supported tirelessly by Simon.

He has ensured the new building is well maintained, fit for purpose, and continues to serve the wider community through hall hire arrangements. On top of his group responsibilities, Simon stepped in to support the District Scout section during a time of transition, organising a District Challenge Night, a paintballing day for over 150 young people, and a District Scout Camp that brought groups together for a weekend of fun and friendship.

These additional commitments were taken on despite his already full schedule, and without his involvement, many smaller groups would have missed out on valuable opportunities. His unwavering commitment continues into 2025, and we are proud to recognise his contribution with this well-deserved award.
