About Scouts
Scouts is the UK’s largest mixed youth organisation, providing fun, challenge and everyday adventure for young people aged 4 to 25. Volunteers make this possible by supporting young people directly, leading teams and helping local Scouting to grow and thrive.
Cabot Scouts
· 17 Groups covering North West Bristol and the surrounding area
· Around 2,552 members: 31 Squirrels, 466 Beavers, 590 Cubs, 674 Scouts, 291 Explorers and around 500 adults
· Cabot Scouts are open to this role being held jointly. In other Districts, this approach has worked well, with up to three District Lead Volunteers sharing responsibilities and making the role more manageable and sustainable.
· A thriving District with opportunities such as Ten Tors, Namaste Nepal, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and regular District-wide events across all sections

About the role
· Provide leadership, direction and support so that Scouting in Cabot develops in line with Scouts’ rules, policies and priorities
· Line manage and support key adult volunteers, especially Group Lead Volunteers and District team leads
· Help create and deliver a vision and development plan for the District
· Ensure high-quality, safe and inclusive Scouting for young people from all backgrounds
· Work with the County Lead Volunteer and other District Lead Volunteers to help Scouting thrive across Avon
What we are looking for
· Someone who can provide direction, work well with people and achieve results
· A person, or team of people, who can enable change, use resources well and manage time effectively
· You do not need prior Scouting experience; support and training will be provided
