🎙️ Celebrating Volunteer Impact – Clive Sandrey on Air

Date: 14th Apr 2026 Author: Cathy Harding

This April, we’re celebrating the impact of volunteers across Avon Scouts — and shining a light on our Lead Volunteer, Clive Sandrey.
From local recognition to a live radio interview, it’s a moment to pause and appreciate what happens behind the scenes.

“Clive’s outstanding leadership and tireless dedication ensure the smooth running of Avon County Scout operations, enabling young people and adult volunteers to enjoy everything that Scouting has to offer.”

— Award Citation

On Saturday 18th April, Clive will be joining David Wrench live on Radio Thornbury between 12:00 and 14:00.

He’ll be talking about Scouting — the opportunities it creates for young people, and the role adult volunteers play in making it all happen. It’s one of those conversations where you don’t quite know what’s coming… but that usually makes it more interesting to listen to.

Alongside this, Clive has recently been recognised at a South Gloucestershire awards event, celebrating individuals and groups making a difference in their communities.

The event brought together local leaders including Katie Cooper and David Withey, and recognised around 30 award recipients — including Chris Criddle, highlighting the strength of volunteer-led organisations across the area.

Scouting doesn’t just happen.
It’s built on time, energy, patience… and people who care enough to keep things moving forward.

Clive is one of those people — and this recognition feels like a moment to say thank you, not just to him, but to volunteers across Avon who make space for young people to grow, try, fail, and succeed.
