RYA Youth Courses – Stage 1 (Day 2) & Start Racing (day 2)
Stage 1
The RYA Stage 1 Start Sailing guides you from never having sailed to understanding the basics of how a boat sails (and what the parts are called) whilst practicing sailing, steering and stopping your own boat.
A ‘RYA Start Sailing’ book and RYA Youth Logbook are included in the course price and successful candidates are awarded an RYA Stage 1 Certificate.
Students generally have a boat each and should be confident in the water.
Sailing can be quite physical and our recommend minimum age is 10 years.
Students who complete the syllabus successfully can go on to consolidate their skills in a Stage 2 course

START RACING
Pre requisites: It is expected that students will have a year’s sailing experience and a Stage 3 certificate which they should bring with their Logbook.
This course may use RS Fevas and Zests and Toppers and on completion students will understand the basic skills and knowledge required for racing.
Successful candidates will be awarded a RYA Start Racing Certificate and may continue their sailing at our Club
