Introduction to Hillwalking Course

Date: 15th September 2024 Location: Mafeking Hall, Pilning BS35 4LQ

Our classic Introduction to Hillwalking in the Scout Association, is designed for Avon County Scout Network and Leaders who want to learn the basics to take young people out walking anywhere. No previous experience required. We plan to start with a classroom session at Mafeking Hall in Pilning in the morning before relocating to the Black Mountains for an afternoon session out on the hill. We will cover the basic skills and Scouting specific aspects (POR) with ample opportunity to practice these in a relaxed enjoyable environment. Cost – £15 per person (plus the cost of sharing lifts to the Black Mountains).

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
