Sailing Courses in Bristol Docks in 2023

Avon Scout County Sailing Section are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and provide RYA sailing courses for Young People and adults:

10/11 Jun beginner youth & adult courses: RYA Stage 1/ Level 1

8/9 July youth & adult courses: RYA Stage 2/Level 2

19/26 July 9, 16, 23, 30 Aug – afternoon beginner youth courses: RYA S1/S2

9/10 Sep RYA courses

23/24 Sep youth course: RYA start Racing

24th Sep – Regatta

Each course is about 16 hours (2 days, 9am-5.30 or 4 half days) . For more information see https://www.rya.org.uk/training/small-boat-sailing/dinghy

Where: Bristol floating harbour from our Yard in Nova Scotia Place

Costs: Members of Avon Scouts £80, members of other scouts, guides or charity £100, members of the public not affiliated with scouts or a charitable group £130

Volunteers: We always welcome new volunteers and training is available if required. Our scout taster sessions are always fully booked and are only limited by the size of our team, we could provide more opportunities with more volunteers.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
