Rafting

Date: 17th Jun 2022 Author: Scout Websites

17 Leaders attended a training course on Sunday 5th June to prepare for running Rafting with their respective groups. The course involved building rafts using barrels, spars and knots and covered the relevant safety requirements to run traditional rafting with their group. They will be assessed when running an event for an Activity permit. As can be seen the Leaders learnt the advantages of Traditional Rafting such as design, pioneering, team work and having fun safely on the water.

Our thanks to The Bradley Stoke Scout Water Rat team for safety cover and West Country Water Park for use of the lake.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
