Love Sailing ? Interested in how you can help the County Sailing then read on…

We have boats, water and time spare but we need  to help our team.

We provide sailing tasters in Bristol harbour between April and August for any scout group in Avon County.

This year almost 90% of our scout taster sessions sold within 24 hours of booking opening. As we are now having to turn scout groups away, we would like to add another evening, but we do not have enough people to run more evenings. Could you help anytime?

Taster sessions are currently only run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays between about Easter and the start of the school holidays (about 14 weeks).

Our sessions start about 18.30 with rigging and launching, then sailing with scouts from 19.00 to 20.30 when the scouts help us to derig and pack up boats. We are finished by 21.00 and ready for refreshment.

We have a team of over 30 regular or occasional helpers including 20 instructors. We need a large team as not everyone can help weekly, our volunteers have day jobs, lives and families. We appreciate all help.

We are inspected by the RYA and run our courses and taster sessions within their guidelines from our private yard by Underfall Yard.

We have 20 boats in our yard: Bahias and a Wayfarer for taster sessions and adult courses and Toppers, Picos and Fevas mainly for youth courses and our club and 2 safety boats.

We run adult courses to help our team to improve, or add to, their skills and we enjoy our social events.
