Cub Scouts make a difference at Christmas time

In November 2020, we asked Cub Scouts from across Avon to design a Christmas card for the crew of HMS Prince of Wales, an aircraft carrier associated with Bristol, all 700 of them!

Each Christmas card that we received was entered into a draw for a prize; with the Captain and his officers selecting the winner .

We are pleased to announce that Lotte from the 62nd Bristol (Horfield Methodist and Parish Church), Seeone Pack, Cabot District, was joint 1st prize winner with Ethan L from 1st Burrington and Wrington Cub Park, Axe District. Here are the winning cards.

Individual cards designed by Adam, from 1st Bradley Stoke, Brunel District and Jocelyn, 227th Bristol, Kestrels Pack, Cabot District were selected to be printed.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Peaches Golding OBE CStJ who supported the initiatve, sent a lovely message “WOW – what an amazing bundle of cards!!!  You and your volunteers have done a tremendous job in producing these fine Christmas cards.  It is better than I could have imagined.  I am so grateful and know that every person on board HMS PRINCE OF WALES will be as thrilled as I am to find such a generous hand of friendship from the Scouts.”
