Duke of Edinburgh – Award Levels

You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.┬áThe main differences between them are the minimum length of time it takes to complete them, how challenging it is and the minimum age you can start. Depending on your age, you are free to start at any level but most people prefer to try for Bronze and work upwards.

Bronze Award

Service, Skills & Physical Recreation sections for 3 months each. Plus plan prepare and undertake two day, one night expedition.

All participants need to undertake further 3 months in either the Service, Skill or Physical Recreation Sections.

Silver Award

Service 6 months. Skills & Physical Recreation sections one for 6 months & one for 3 months. Plus plan prepare and undertake three day, two night expedition.

Direct entrants must undertake a further 6 months in either the Service or the longer of the Skill or Physical Recreation Sections.

 

Gold Award

Service 12 months. Skills & Physical Recreation sections one for 12 months & one for 6 months. Plus plan prepare and undertake four day, three night expedition. Undertake shared activity in residential setting away from home for 5 days and four nights.

Direct entrants must undertake a further 6 months in either the Service, Skill or Physical Recreation Sections.
