1st Keynsham Scouts support the NHS
1st Keynsham Scout group, Wansdyke District are delighted to announce that they have agreed for the NHS to take over, and use their main Scout HQ building in Ashton Way, Keynsham as a medical testing and/or vaccination centre. This will be for an initial period of three months. The initiative is part of the government’s UK wide drive to continue to improve the accessibility of testing for local communities.
It may seem odd to agree to something that works against the primary purpose of the Scout group, however as a trustee member said “thinking more widely, the best thing we can do to help Scouting and young people at the moment is to help get back to normality”.
This is no ordinary letting and these are new and challening times for everyone, however this is how 1st Keynsham Scouts can give something back, and a fantastic testament to the role the Scout group plays within the community.
“These are difficult times, we face real health risks. We must not forget we are here for Scouting and certainly must not put our leaders, behind the scenes crews, or youth at any risk.
Over the next few months, the importance of sustained support and encouragment for all our young people and the leadership team, by both parents and friends of the group, cannot be underestimated. Thank you”. Len Bridges, Chair – Keynsham Scout Group
