You will have to cast your minds back to April of 2006, when 80 or so young people were invited to attend a activity day at Woodhouse Park Camp site. This was a taster of things to come and most of those young people who attended that day made it through district selections and into one of the two units Avon are sending to the World Jamboree.

So how and why NOVA I hear you ask well? we started life as AVON TWO, but both the leadership team and the young people felt this was not a good name for the unit. So the option was given to all members of the unit to come up with a unit name.

There was some wild ideas of what our unit should be called including Concorde, Emo Beavers and NOVA.

After a poll and a recount, it was suspected that some skullduggery was going on.  NOVA was chosen, the fact that it is AVON backwards makes me wonder about the people in the unit. Did I as unit leader get the backwards lot, or are we just the backward unit.

I guess only time will tell.
