When designing a web site for your Group or District here are a few points to bear in mind to make your website better:
-
Does it conform to the Scout Brand Guidelines: www.scouts.org.uk/brand? Specifically about colours and logos - when someone goes to your web site they should instantly know it is a Scout site by the standard colours and logos.
-
Do you regularly take a backup? If you site was deleted (by hackers or hosting company error) could you easily put it all back? (remember files and databases)
-
Is your calendar and news up to date? Will you keep it up to date? There is nothing worse than going to a site which has news that is a year old. If you are not going to update it, either find someone else to do the updates or remove all date sensitive information.
-
Have you tested it? Make sure a few different people have tested your site on different web browsers, tried all the contact forms, clicked all the links etc. It doesn't look very professional if you fill in a form and then you get an error when trying to send it.
