Avon Scouts have various ways of communicating with its members. Two of the channels we use to communicate is through this web site and through regular emails to all the adult members.

To get your news article published via the web site or email update note the following guidance:

• Make sure your news is relevant to most of the County - people don't like reading lots of news about things that are not relevant to them.
• Make sure your news is positive and promotes Scouting - people don't want to read negative news.
• Include a few photos or a logo to add to your article, lots of photos should go in a separate photo gallery. Photos of Scouts doing activities are good, see the Brand Guidelines page 33.
• Remember that if something gets published on a web site then it is available for the whole world to see, for ever (even if it gets taken off the County website, it might still be available somewhere)

To get your news article published email the following to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

1. Write your article text (Word document is fine)
2. Attach some photos/logo to the email (don't insert them into the document, if you care about the position put a placeholder there)
3. Decide were you want it published: web site, email news letter or both
4. If you want your article to be emailed out, include a short introduction that will go into the email and a link will be added to read the rest of the article. (If you don't do this then the first paragraph will be used)
5. If you do not want it publishing straight away, decide when you want it published.

Other things to note:

• The web team reserve the right to edit articles or not publish them if they are not suitable.
• Emails are only sent out at regular intervals and, unless it is really important, we will not send one out specially for your news.
• Remember, sending out an appeal for help does not guarantee anyone will come forward!
