Membership Record PDF Print E-mail

The Scout Association operate a national membership database. This keeps track of the following things about you:

  • Contact details
  • Scouting appointments
  • Awards
  • Training
  • Permits
  • Disclosures

It is important to keep your details up to date as various people can use the information to contact you. Here is just some of the ways your information is used:

  • Scouting+ Emails - a weekly national email including news and offers tailored to your roles
  • Scouting Magazine - a bimonthly magazine posted to all adults, which includes loads of news, articles and offers. It also includes a supplement specifically for the section you work with. View the online version of the magazine: www.scouts.org.uk/magazine
  • Avon Email Updates - Occasional emails containing news and events specifically for Avon County Scouts.

If you are not receiving all of the above and you haven't opted out, it is likely that your record is not up to date!

How to keep you record updated

Contact Details

Your personal details can be updated easily by yourself. Common areas which are not up to date are:

  • Email Address - it may have changed or not been recorded
  • Postal Address - If you have moved
  • Phone Number - if you have changed mobile phones

Go to www.scouts.org.uk and log in using your username and password. If you don't have a username or password click the Register Now button and enter your details. You will need your membership number and your details exactly as they appear on your Membership Record. I you can't register contact the Scout Information Centre.

Once logged in click the My Profile link and a screen will appear with all your details. To edit your personal details click the Edit button.

Roles / Appointments

You are not able to change your own roles, you will need to get your line manager to do this. This is usually your Group Scout Leader (GSL) or District Commissioner (DC).

To add a new role you usually need to complete a Adult Appointment form (AA) or Occasional Helper form (OH). Your line manager will give you the appropriate form.

If there is a role listed that you no longer do, contact your previous line manager or Scout Information Centre to get them to cancel it. Having roles listed that you no longer do means you will receive unnecessary communications that are not relevant to you.

Training

Your line manager or Local Training Manager will update your training records so you can see how far you have progressed through the training scheme. If your record is not up to date contact your line manager or Local Training Manager.

Other Problems

If you have any problems or need any extra help, contact the Scout Information Centre.
