Wanted: Media Development Manager for Avon Scouts

Avon County Scouts are looking for a person with experience in public relations and managing the media to take on the role of Media Development Manager

This person would join our Marketing and Communications Team with responsibility for promoting our work to the media and other stakeholders as appropriate. The role would involve developing and issuing press releaseas, building relationships with local media and ensuring all our public engagement is on-brand. This voluntary role is a great opportunity to further our mission by publicising the many exciting events that go on around the county and showcasing the achievements of our members. 

Ideally applicants should have professional experience in this field, but at a minimum they should have demonstrable experience in the following:

  • Writing press releases
  • Keeping to a corporate brand
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working as part of a team

No prior experience of Scouting or its brand is required as a comprehensive induction and training will be given. Time commitment is flexible but successful applicants should expect to dedicate approximately 6 hours a month to the role, which will include evenings and weekends.
