Scouting Volunteers from across Avon gather for County Conference

Added 13/07/2014 test

Volunteers, Explorers and Network Members from across Avon have spent the day together at the City Academy in Bristol celebrating Scouting in Avon.

The day began with a welcome from County Chairman, John Kirwan, and County Commissioner, Dan Wood, before breaking out into a variety of workshops and sessions.

During the day, a range of interactive workshops on subjects as diverse as growing scouting, supporting training and creating exciting programmes were delivered. In between the workshops a marketplace area allowed everyone to find out about opportunities available within the county - as well as to buy cakes and souvenirs from The Avonators Jamboree Unit! Leaders and supporters from across the county also had a chance to network over lunch.

The day also included the County Network Conference (which included a variety of team games!) and AGM, and culminated with the County AGM. After the formal AGM business was completed, Dan Wood gave a review of the past year, before handing the microphone to UK Chief Commissioner, Wayne Bullpit, who gave the keynote speech.

The day was organised by John Kirwan (County Chair) and Karla Forrest (DCC Development), and the County would like to thank the City Academy, Bristol for making the day possible, along with all the other volunteers who got involved.
