Local Business Hosts Celebration Event for Scouting Volunteers

Added 27/05/2014 test

This year 16 people were presented with special St. George's day awards in recognition of their outstanding and distinguished service to Scouting. As well as attending Windsor with the Chief Scout and HRH The Duke of Kent, they also received a special presentation from the Lord Lieutenant and County Commissioner.  Smith and Williamson generously hosted the evening during which the achievements were celebrated. Between them the volunteers total more than 500 years of service to Scouting which equates to more than 70,000 hours changing young people's lives for the better.  Their service has included leading Districts, supporting growth and opening new provision, shaping training and delivering big events as well as inspirational international projects much further afield.

"Inspired Countless Young People"

The County Commissioner praised the volunteers for their heroic efforts which he said had "inspired countless young people over a generation and have served to make our communities stronger, better places to be".  The evening was filled with celebration and pride and it was a great way to thank and recognise their extraordinary efforts.
