Clutton and Midsomer Norton Scouts share stories around the campfire

Added 17/12/2015 test

Twenty Beaver Scouts from Clutton and Midsomer Norton Scout Groups, with young leaders from Saxon and Titan Explorers, slept over at Radstock.

Activities included outdoor tent pitching led, in the wind and rain, by young leaders from Titan Explorers; a treasure hunt, mini-catapult and camp blanket making, build-your-own beaver and human hungry hippos. In the evening there was a camp fire.

For many of the young people, it was their first night away from home, earning them a special Nights Away badge.

Activities over the whole weekend counted towards their Camp Craft badge.

Rosie, one of the Beavers, said: "It was awesome, we stayed up late and had marshmallows on the camp fire."

After the weekend, the leaders received some welcome comments from parents: "Benjy really enjoyed it and it has already boosted his confidence."

Another said: "Oscar and Dexter have been raving about it all day and also sharing stories - it's had a really positive impact on their confidence. I really appreciate it; so do they."
