  • Could You Help Build a Hovercraft for Avon Scouts?

    In September 2014, Avon Scouts will be starting a project to build two hovercraft. Based in a workshop in Bristol Docks, it is aimed to have the hovercraft built ready for use in June 2015.  The craft will be built by two teams of Explorer Scouts, supported by leaders and adults. Read more

  • Volunteers from across Avon gather for County Conference

    Volunteers, Explorers and Network Members from across Avon have spent the day together at the City Academy in Bristol celebrating Scouting in Avon.  The day began with a welcome from County Chairman, John Kirwan, and County Commissioner, Dan Wood, before breaking out into a variety of workshops and sessions. Read more

  • NEX Does Paintball

    On Saturday 21st June 140 Network and Explorer members from across Avon joined together at Hamburger Hill, near Hunstrete, for a day of paintballing.  For four hours the young people, from 32 different units, splatted each other with paintballs under the hot summer sun. Read more

  • New Sea Explorer Scout Unit Prepares to Set Sail

    An exciting  new Sea Explorer Scout Unit will be launched this September based at the Avon county rowing and kayaking centre,The Benjamin Perry Boathouse, Phoenix Wharf Bristol Harbourside.  Open to all scouts aged 14 and over across the whole of Avon, the unit is expected to run a full programme of high adventure activities associated with Explorers but with a distinctive water based bias. Read more

  • Scouts From Across Avon Take Part in Community Week Projects

    The week of 2nd to 8th June was an important week for Scouting nationally, with groups up and down the country taking part in projects for Scout Community Week. Supported by B&Q, the aim of the week is to encourage young people (and their families) to get involved in their local community and "do their best" to help other people. Read more

  • Scouts Enjoy Water Regatta

    Over 100 Scouts and Explorers spent Saturday 14th June enjoying a range of water activities in Bristol Docks at the Avon County Water Regatta.  Activities on the day included Canoeing, Sailing, Rowing and Dragon Boating. Highlights included canoeing past the SS Great Britain, and banging the drum whilst dragon boating. Read more

  • Fun in the "Land of Adventure" for Wansdyke District

    Six hundred Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network Members and leaders came together for WanJam, a fun bank holiday jamboree under can vas at Bath Racecourse. The theme of the weekend was "Land of Adventure".  Friday evening's opening ceremony was led by members of the Bath School of Samba and included plenty of audience participation. Read more
