  • On Air, Around the World!

    The weekend of 17th to 19th October saw Scouts from around the world communicating with each other as part of the worldwide Jamboree on the Internet and Jamboree on the Air event. Here in Avon there was no exception, with Scouts from across the county gathering at 229th Bristol's HQ in Ashton Gate for this year's JOTI Radio event. Read more

  • Do you want to be a Canoe Instructor?

    Avon Scout and Guide Canoe Club will be running a two star BCU course in March 2015.  This is a step on the way to becoming a UKCC Level One Coach, which enables leaders to take young poeple for basic canoeing.  The course will be based at the BP Boathouse in Bristol's Floating Harbour. Read more

  • Scouts Shoot to Success

    Over 100 young people and leaders took part in the 2014 Avon Scouts Rifle Club Shooting Competition.  The event, hosted at Chelwood Campsite, saw participants compete in a range of shooting disciplines: Sporter Air Rifle Air Pistol 3 Position Air Rifle Field Target Air Rifle Archery Clay Pigeon Shooting During the day there was also a knockdown knockout competition in which all age groups participated. Read more

  • Volunteers Wanted for Key Jamboree Roles

    Avon County Jamboree 2016 - May 27th to 30th Every 4 years or so, Avon County Scouts hold our own Jamboree. An opportunity for all members of the movement in Avon to come together and share in the fun, adventure and camaraderie of Scouting.  We are now looking to fill the key roles of: Camp Chief Assistant Camp Chief Infrastructure Lead Activities Lead Communications Manager We hope you will be interested in being involved in the 2016 Jamboree and taking a leading role. Read more

  • New Badge Supports Air Ambulance

    A new challenge badge is being launched by the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, allowing Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to support the charity whilst undertaking a range of fun activities.  As part of the badge, participants will learn about Helictopters, the work of the Air Ambulance, and take part in an air activity, as well as learning first aid and organising a fundraising activity in aid of the Air Ambulance Charity. Read more

  • Introducing Your Pears Foundation Team

    Over the last few months, Avon Scouts have recruited six interns to work on development projects across the county funded by the Pears Foundation.  Cherie, Jess, Georgina, Kayley, Stacey and James will be spending the year working closely with the Regional Development Service and district teams to deliver projects in Kingswood, Brunel and Cabot Districts. Read more

  • New Sea Explorer Unit to Set Sail in Bristol

    Bristol's new Sea Explorer unit will be launching in September 2014, with a launch event and BBQ at the Benjamin Perry Boathouse on Thursday 18th September.  The unit will provide a full explorer programme, with an emphasis on water activities, from the heart of Bristol's historic floating harbour. Read more
