  • Blaze at St Briavel's Castle

    Blaze Explorer Scouts from Bath, and Phoenix Explorer Scouts from Thornbury, joined together for a medieval weekend at St Briavel's Castle, just over the Severn Bridge in Gloucestershire. The 40 Explorers and 9 Leaders stayed in the Norman Castle, now a YHA venue, last weekend and enjoyed a packed weekend of historic fun. Read more

  • Scouts Winter Camp Adventure

    Last weekend, Scouts from Avon met up with 3,000 others from across the UK to welcome in a new year of adventure whilst camping at Gilwell Park in North East London, the home of Scouting and outdoor adventure.  The annual Winter Camp in January provides the opportunity for Scouts to take part in over seventy different adventurous and fun activities ranging from abseiling to Zorbing. Read more

  • "Oh Yes They Did" - Bath Beavers enjoy Panto Outing

    With the Christmas Holidays coming to an end, many young people could be forgiven for feeling a bit down about returning to School. But for over 175 Beavers and Leaders from Bath District the school holidays ended on a high with a trip to see Cinderella at the Theatre Royal, Bath. Read more

  • What did we get up to in 2014?

    Its never a "quiet" year in Scouting, but 2014 has been a particularly busy year for Avon Scouts. A year of continued growth and development for Scouting across the county, along with a new County Commissioner to end the year! Early in the year, we held a selection day where we 72 young people, and 8 adults, were selected from across the county to attend the 2015 World Jamboree in Japan. Read more

  • New County Commissioner Appointed for Avon

    With Dan Wood, our previous County Commissioner, moving on to take on the role of International Commissioner for the Scout Association, finding a new Commissioner to lead Avon County has been a priority for our regional commissioiner, Hamish Stout. At the beginning of November, Graham Brant was appointed, and has taken on the County Commissioner role with immediate effect. Read more

  • Pears Foundation Interns Continue to Grow Scouting in Avon

    Over the last few months a team of 6 interns, funded by the Pears Foundation, have been working hard to develop Scouting across Kingswood, Brunel and Cabot Districts. In our latest update from the team, we find out what they've been up to!   Manvata Community in Bristol A new combined Beaver and Cub section is being opened with leaders from the community meeting on Sunday afternoons. Read more
