  • Scouting launches consultation on considering welcoming atheists as full members

    UK Scouting has launched a survey to ask its members whether an alternative version of the Scout Promise should be developed for atheists and those unable to make the existing commitment. Everyday Scouting is guided by a set of Fundamentals, and these are expressed through the wording of our Promise and Law, plus our activity programme, policies and procedures. Read more

  • Wansdyke Scouters Presented with Community Award

    At the beginning of this month, the Wansdyke Scouts Adult Leader Team were presented with a special award by Councillor Rob Appleyard at a ceremony in The Guildhall, Bath.  The award was a recognition of the selfless dedication and commitment of all Wansdyke Scouters. Read more

  • Lifesaving equipment for Severn Beach thanks to our Scouts

    Our Scouts in Severn Beach are helping to save lives having fundraised for a defibrillator to be installed on their building.  The Scouts recognised the opportunity after first aid training as part of their programme and they wanted to help the local community. Read more

  • Wansdyke celebrate another year of success

    The Annual General Meeting of Wansdyke Scouts took on a very different format this year. During the Open Afternoon, Scouts, Explorers and Network members gave short presentations about their experiences in Scouting. Amazing adventures  The meeting heard how 17-year old Explorer Scout Alex had learned to sail when he was a young Scout, initially in small Toppers, but now was crewing an ocean-going 60-foot Clipper Class sailing boat. Read more

  • Scouts hit their target

    National Scout Archery Competition  Scouts from Saltford in Avon Scout County triumphed at the National Scout Archery Competition this year.  They competed with 300 archers from all over the UK.  The Cub Scouts (8-10 ½ years old) achieved first, second and third places in both the Under 11 categories. Read more

  • Marking a decade of success

    Explorer Scouts and Scout Network recently held a huge beach party to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Nearly two hundred of them took to the beach at Uphills near Weston-Super-Mare for an afternoon and evening packed full of fun.  They competed to win the sandcastle competition, played beach games and tug of war and wore fancy dress; there were live bands, a mocktail bar and a barbeque. Read more
