Welcome to the  2007 Pages . . .

In 2007 Scouting will celebrate 100 years since Robert Baden-Powell founded the movement on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour. To celebrate this event, many activities will take place around the world - not least here in the UK. The Scout Association has founded a special organisation to manage the events of 2007, details of which can be found on the Scouting2007 pages.

Here in Avon we are at the early stages of planning 2007 events, but rest assured EVERY Scout will have the opportunity to take part in the Centennial celebrations locally, many will take part nationally, and others will take part internationally. We will be celebrating the centenary of the worlds largest uniformed youth organisation and the largest co-educational youth organisation in the UK. The agent 2:007 for Avon is responsible for co-ordinating 2007 events in Avon.

In August 2007, the 21st World Scout Jamboree is coming home to the UK. It will be held at Hylands Park in Essex. For further information on this event visit the 2007 Jamboree web site. This will truly be a great reason for all Scouts and Guides around the world to celebrate.

The first event the Scouting 2007 team will organise will be the European Jamboree at Hylands Park. This event is expected to attract 20,000 young people from around Europe.
