| What is the Scout Fellowship? On this page you can find out all about the Scout Fellowship:
How old are members of the Scout Fellowship? Members of the
Scout Fellowship are aged 18 and above (with no upper limit). Some members will also hold
formal adult appointments within Scouting, but many don't.
What does the Scout Fellowship do? The Scout Fellowship is a supporters club for Scouting. Members of the Scout Fellowship support Scouting in a range of ways, and at the same time enjoy a series of social activities. The Scout Fellowship is the section in which the members have one common aim - a wish to support Scouting. It welcomes men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds. There is no need to have been involved in Scouting or Guiding before, all that is required is a willingness to give some of your time to Scouting. A Scout Fellowship has its own social and activity programme. The aim of the Scout Fellowship is Providing Active Support, with the emphasis being very much on supporting the youth programme in an active manner, at all levels of the Association from the local Scout Group to National level. How do we define Active Support? It encompasses the talents of the Scout Fellowship of all ages and abilities, whether it is physical, mental, geared to a particular technical skill or general support. It could be as a badge examiner, a mentor to new leaders, catering for courses or events, running pioneering courses, assisting with hill walking, rock climbing etc. We all have something to offer as far as supporting Scouting is concerned whatever our age or ability The best way to find out about the Scout Fellowship is to find your nearest Fellowship and go and see for yourself! Complete our enquiry form or email joinus@avonscouts.org.uk and we will put you in contact with your nearest Scout Fellowship.
How do I join? Perhaps you know a friend or colleague who is a member of the Scout Fellowship . . . ask them if you can come along to a meeting and see what all the fuss is about. You can also contact your local Scout Fellowship through our County Office; just complete the on-line enquiry form or email joinus@avonscouts.org.uk and we will contact you with the relevant details. Members of the Scout Fellowship may become full members of The Scout Association by making the Scout Promise; they are then entitled to wear uniform. Those not becoming full members are Associate Members of The Scout Association.
