In teams of between four and six, you are challenged to hike a minimum of 15km from any chosen start point to arrive at a given Grid Ref at exactly 7:30 for breakfast.

To obtain the final destination point you must e-mail Val Todd ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) informing her of your Explorer Unit and number of team entering.

The Challenge is simple we ask only three things of you

Your route must pass through one of two check points that will be set up at ST435499 and ST435479
Whilst on your hike you are challenged to make up the name of our Chief Scout BEAR GRYLLS from photos taken along the route e.g. B = Bull (no scaring them now) E = Easter Bunny.
Arrive on time

We plan to score the photos along the following lines.


1	Each individual photo relating to a letter (no repeats)	1 Point per photo

2	Each photo that has all bar one member of the team in the photos	1 Point per photo
3	Each photo that has all team member in the photo	5 points per photo
Only one of the above two counts which ever scores highest
4	For completing the word	5 points
5	For getting all team member in every photo	Bonus 10 points
6	Judges award for individuality or for novel photos	Up to 2 points per photo

Photos will only be scored once e.g. there are two R’s and two L’s in Bear Grylls if the same photo is use for both letters it will only count once.

Each team need to complete a route card and a risk assessment for walking that route, these should be sent to Val Todd No later than the 5th November 2011
