What are Beavers? Beaver Scouing is open to 6 and 7 year olds who like having fun and making friends. Beaver Scouts usually meet once a week as a "Colony". The Colony is run by trained, voluntary leaders and helpers. Many of these are parents of Beaver Scouts. How old are they? Beaver Scouts are aged between 6 - 8 yrs. What do they do?
The Beaver Scout programme and activities are based on four activity areas: Beaver Scouts Learn about
themselves Beaver Scouts get to know people
Beaver Scouts explore Beaver Scouts care The best way to find out what Beavers get up to is to find your nearest group and go and see for yourself! What
do they wear? Turquoise Blue long
sleeved sweatshirt or Group T-shirt What
badges do they have? The Beaver Scout Membership Award - to be awarded at the Promise Ceremony Beaver Scout Badges include: Group Awards - International Friendship, Enviroment and Faith are three of the Group Awards.These awards are designed so that all members of the Scout Group, from Beavers to Explorers, can take part and work together. Challenge Awards - The Outdoor, Discovery and Friendship Challenge can be gained as part of a balanced programme. Joining In Badge - These recognise the length of time a young person has been a member of the Scout Movement. Activity Badges - These reward an individual who has taken part in an activity that interests them over a period of time. Bronze Chief Scout's Award - This is the highest award available to Beavers.
