About

  What is AIN?

Avon International Scout Network was set up to promote and support International programme, events and activities in Avon. This might include any number of the following:

  • Expeditions
  • Exchanges
  • International element of the balanced programme
  • Queen's Scout Award
  • Duke of Edinburgh's award
  • International Friendship Group Award
  • Community action, international development and service projects
  • Partnership projects
  • Other activities of an International nature involving Network members
  • Camp staff programmes
  • Research projects abroad

Avon International Scout Network does this by:

  • acting as an umbrella to 'join-up' Scout Network members taking part in international Scouting
  • providing advice from project approval to completion - coming up with an idea, planning, management, finances, fundraising, communication, risk assessment, training and preparation, first aid, insurance etc.
  • help with accessing resources and equipment to carry out international Scouting
  • support with accessing external funds
  • collective fundraising opportunities
  • a pool of young people wishing to be involved in international Scouting
  • promotion of projects, activity, programme and events run for and by Network members
  • online information, advice, support and community
  • occasional meetings to network, share ideas and good practice
  • encouraging more people to join Scout Network and take part in such activities.

The Network is run on the basis that Network is a Section for the members run by the members. The best form of support is from our peers. A great deal of knowledge, expertise and experience exists in this area and this is a great way to tap into it.
