enable adults to prevent and manage challenging behavior in their
Sections.
|
| Topics that this module covers are |
Identifying types and cause of challenging/disruptive behavior. Developing an action plan to deal with unacceptable behavior. Defining and agreeing acceptable standards for young people and adults. Identifying where additional help and support is available. Identifying dismissal procedures in POR for young people.

Being able to identify challenging behavior. Knowing the causes of challenging behavior of young people. Using methods of prevention and management of challenging behavior in the Section.

Do you know the cause of challenging behavior amongst young people? Do you know how to prevent or avoid incidents of challenging behavior? Do you know how to deal with challenging behavior should it occur in the Section?

| To validate this module the learner will need to complete two of the following |
Develop and implement a Section Code of Conduct with the young people with whom you work. Demonstrate how acceptable standards of behavior may be agreed with both young and the adult leadership team. Identify actions that could be taken to reduce those triggers/causes of challenging behavior which are within your control. If applicable, explain how they have dealt with challenging behavior successfully and appropriately in the past. Identify sources of additional help and support in dealing with challenging behavior. Plan and run a game or activity with your Section members to explore acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Any other ideas, subject to agreement with Training Adviser. and Discuss with Training adviser the types, causes and triggers of challenging behavior. Consider appropriate action in different situations.
