Welcome to website of the 32nd Bristol (1st Whitehall) Scout Group. This is just a short page explaining about our history and how we are now.

We are a thriving Scout Group with a Beaver Scout Colony for boys and girls aged 6 to 8, a Cub Scout Pack for boys and girls aged 8 to 10.5, and a Scout Troop for boys and girls aged 10.5 to 14. The three sections are supported by a team of adult leaders and some Young Leaders (Explorer Scouts aged 14 to 18).

Beavers meet Tuesday evenings from 6.00pm to 7.00pm (term time only)
Cubs meet each Wednesday from 6.30pm to 8.00pm
Scouts meet each Thursday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm

Beavers do a variety of activities including painting art, games, making friends, badgework, cooking and other fun things.

Cubs do loads of activities throughout the year including games, cooking, badgework, rifle shooting, archery, art, making things, two camps per year (long weekend at Easter and a week in the summer). They also do several outdoor activities over local fields inculuding sports days and football, rounders etc. Throughout the year the Cubs also enter several district competitions, including draughts and football.

Scouts also have a very busy programme throughout the year! The main normal troop nights include games evening, darts night, cooking, programme/camp planning, football etc over local field, cave nights, rifle shooting, archery, laser quest/fusion, mapping and Scout skills, themed evenings, and bowling. The Scouts take part in several camps a year including Easter (long weekend), Summer (week), SleepOver in November, County Camp (October), Patrol Camps, and a cycle ride/night hike! They also take part in several district events including draughts and football competitions. They take part in the annual County camping competition.

Every Easter and summer we arrange a camp where the Cubs and Gcouts go away to a camp site where they do loads of activites. All three sections have a SleepOver over the Remembrance Syunday weekend. Pictures of past camps can be found in the Gallery.

There is a small cost of 5 pound a month subs to be in any of the sections, plus an annual membership fee (each February).

Overall we are a very active Scout Group.

History:

The 32nd Bristol (1st Whitehall) Scout Group was formally opened on 24th June 1972. Prior to this the 52nd Bristol (St Leonard's) Scout Group operated at Blackswarth Road, Redfield (behind St Leonards Church), and the 48th Bristol (Open) Scout Group operated from our current Headquarters. The 52nd and 48th Groups merged to form the new 32nd; at the same time the 32nd also gained members from the 199th Bristol (St Ambrose) Scout Group that used to operate from the junction of Whitehall Road and Stretford Road; just a short distance away from our headquarters.

Our current building was formally opened on 24th June 1972, and was a consequence of the (then) 48th Bristol Group being relocated from their wooden building nearer the junction of Whitehall Road and Foxcroft Road.

Finally be prepared . . .
