| 2007 will be an action-packed
year for everyone involved in Scouting. To help record our Centenary year, we are running
a Centenary Photography Competition. The Centenary year will be a year that creates
memories for a lifetime; this competition aims to capture those memories. The competition
is open to all members of the movement in Avon - young and old - and runs all year. The
top prize is £100! Each month we will select the best photograph of the
month. The winner will receive a certificate, and have the photograph displayed on the
county website. At the end of 2007 we will award a certificate and prize to the best
photograph submitted in each category, plus an overall winner will receive a prize of
£100!
Were looking for photographs that help to promote the fun, challenge and
adventure of Scouting. The photographs can be from any Scouting event during 2007.
What are the prizes and categories?
We will select a winner from entries submitted each month during 2007 the winner
will have their photograph displayed on the county website, and receive a winners
certificate.
At the end of the year we will award a Centenary prize, and certificate, for the best
photograph in each category the categories are for photos taken by: (a)
Beaver Scout or Cub Scout, (b) Scout or Explorer Scout, (c) Scout Network or
adult member.
There will also be a top prize for the best photograph submitted to the competition of
£100.
How do I enter?
We can accept digital or printed photographs. Entries can either be emailed to photocomp@avonscouts.org.uk or posted to
Philip Bird, 10 Whitehall Avenue, Bristol BS5 7DF.
With your entry we need to know:
- the name of the photographer whether the photographer is a Beaver Scout, Cub Scout,
Scout, Explorer Scout, member of the Scout Network, or adult member the Scout Group (or
Network etc)
- the event at which the photograph was taken, and the date the photo was taken
- your address (and email address if applicable)
- This statement "I agree to be bound by the rules of the Centenary Photography
Competition"
If posting your photographs, please stick a label on the back of each photograph with this
information. If emailing your photographs, it would be helpful if you listed the filename
of your photographs in your email, and used them when describing when the photo was taken.
There is no limit to the number of entries you may make. There is no charge to enter the
competition.
What will you do with the photographs?
By submitting a photograph in this competition, you agree that the photograph may be used
in the media, internet websites, sold as part of a compilation of photographs or in other
ways to promote Scouting. A selection of the best photographs will be used on our county
website, and added to our county archives.
In 2008 we plan to use a selection of the photographs in displays. We are also aim to
produce a Review of 2007 for purchase. Please note that photographs will not
be returned.
Conditions of Entry
Entrants may only submit their own work. By submitting a photograph you grant to Avon
County Scout Council the right to publish and use your photographs, and to allow others
(including the media) to use your photographs. Entries must be entirely your own work, not
defame anybody nor infringe copyright. The County Centenary Steering Group are the judges,
and their decisions shall be final. Please ensure that the rules and guidelines of The
Scout Association are followed (see FS295207).
The rules and guidelines of The Scout Association require that safety equipment must be
worn for certain activities; photographs from these activities should show that the
necessary safety equipment was worn, and that the relevant safety requirements were
followed. Submission of a photograph shall be confirmation of acceptance of these rules.
We reserve the right to amend the rules.
