| 9 Seperate District events all with one goal; to collectively walk the Avon boundary. Each District has been provided with details of their part of the 'Avon' Boundary. Please contact your District Commissioner for details of who is co-ordianting the event in your District. Did you know that there is now a staged activity badge called Hikes Away? The requirements for all stages require that you "complete a hike or Journey with a purpose as agreed with the leader. Those taking part should be dressed and equipped for the prevailing conditions and terrain". For Beavers it recommends 2 hours of activity, for Cubs 3 hours, Scouts 4 hours and Explorers 5 hours. The challenge we're settng is to see how many 'Hikes Away' badges we can award on the 10th November for Beating the Boundary. For stage 1 you need to complete 1 hike. Lets see if we can create a record and get ourselves in Scouting Magazine! All Explorers and Scouts over 13 are invited to a recovery party at Woodhouse Park. Units please bring the older Scouts with you, and Scouts please ask your local Explorer Scout Unit to take you; camping is available in the Training and Frome fields. There will be hot food from 6.00pm to 8.00pm cooked by members of the Scout Network, followed by music, a film or two and some novel ‘Chill zones’. Not forgetting the party fun and games. The cost for the evening entertainment, camping and breakfast will cost £5 a head. As this is our Centenary year we are holding a ‘Drum Head Scouts Own’ at Woodhouse Park to remember those Scouts who have fallen in combat. You are all invited to attend and if you know of any adults who have been members of the armed forces or in any way involved we ask you to bring them along. We shall be laying a wreath and all are invited to bring a Scouting memento to lay during the service (these can be retrieved afterwards) as part of the service. Poppy crosses can be obtained for those who would like one. We recognise, of course, that you may be involved in your a local Remembrance Sunday service, and there is no obligation on those staying overnight to attend the Woodhouse Park Remembrance Sunday service.
